How Smart Meters Work

Accurate Measurement

Smart meters record consumption in real time using certified, tamper-proof sensors, ensuring every unit is measured with precision. Consumers transitioning from flat-rate billing or informal arrangements may notice an appreciation in their bills. This simply reflects a lag in adapting to tranparent metering. Meters strictly report actual usage, now measured more accurately. Smart meters are tested and certified under Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and CBIP guidelines, ensuring measurement accuracy within 2% tolerance. For certain consumers, existing flaws in electric wiring, old water gysers with lower star ratings, etc might see increased bills. This is simply because of the more energy drawn due to faulty electricals. Smart meters will always record the actual energy drawn. Nothing more, nothing less
